Athletics at St. Stephens Indian School

At St. Stephens Indian School, athletics is about more than competition. Participation in sports as part of a team and individually helps students build strength, confidence, and a sense of belonging. Athletes develop leadership skills, support one another, and demonstrate respect on and off the field. Good sportsmanship and fair play are defining characteristics of our program.

Sports We Offer

We provide a variety of athletic opportunities for middle and high school students:

  • Football
  • Basketball
  • Volleyball
  • Cross country
  • Track
  • Wrestling

How to Join

When a new season starts, the coach announces student sign-ups. All students who sign up may try out. At the first practice, coaches review team rules and expectations.

To participate, students must:

  • Sign up during the designated sign-up period.
  • Attend all practices (unless excused).
  • Follow team rules and demonstrate good behavior.

What You Need to Play

Before joining a team, students must:

  • Get a physical exam from a doctor.
  • Submit a signed physical form to the coach or office.

Note: The coach or the school office can access physical examination forms.

Grades and Eligibility

To play sports in high school, students must follow WHSAA rules:

  • Students must pass at least five classes in the prior semester.
  • If you do not pass the required number of classes, you can make up credits. (Ask your counselor.)

If you have questions, talk to the coach or athletic director. For full details, check the athletics handbook.
