Programs at St. Stephens Indian School

We offer a variety of academic and enrichment programs tailored to students’ needs from kindergarten through high school. These programs support academic growth, cultural learning, and student interests.


All-Day Kindergarten

We offer a full-day kindergarten program to give young learners a strong foundation.

What Will Your Child Learn?

By the end of the year, your child will be able to:

  • Recognize, name, and write all 26 letters of the alphabet.
  • Read about 30 sight words.
  • Understand letter sounds.
  • Begin writing short words and sentences.
  • Count and recognize numbers.
  • Identify shapes and sort objects by size, color, and shape.

How Can You Help at Home?

You can support your child’s learning by:

  • Creating a writing box with crayons, pencils, and paper.
  • Counting toys or books together at bedtime.
  • Playing “draw a shape” games.
  • Sorting buttons or snacks by size or color.

Children must be 5 years old by September 1 to enroll.

Arapaho Language, Culture, and Arts

We take pride in our Native identity and integrate it as a core part of our school experience. Cultural learning isn’t a special event; it’s a daily part of student life.

Living Our Heritage

  • Students recite the Pledge of Allegiance in the Arapaho language each morning.
  • Campus art and architecture celebrate Native imagery.
  • Video lessons teach traditional language and customs.

Music (Grades K–5)

Music helps students grow in all areas, including academic, emotional, and social. Our K–5 music program supports brain development and helps students express themselves creatively.

Students explore rhythm, melody, instruments, and group performance in fun and engaging ways.

Sports

Athletic programs support physical health, leadership, and teamwork. Sports are available starting in middle school and continue through high school.

High School Academic Programs

Our high school curriculum prepares students for life after graduation— whether they plan to attend college, start a career, or learn a trade.

  • Use strategies that support diverse learning styles.

Family Involvement

We believe in working together with families. When parents and guardians are involved, students do better in school. We welcome your support, feedback, and presence at school events.
