Special Education at St. Stephens Indian School

At St. Stephens Indian School, we are committed to supporting students with disabilities through a comprehensive range of services. We work closely with families, teachers, and specialists to help each student succeed in school and beyond. Our Special Education Department follows all applicable state and federal laws to ensure every student receives the support they need.

Services We Provide

We provide special education services across all grade levels. Services may include:

  • Inclusion support in general education classrooms
  • Targeted small group instruction
  • Self-contained instructional settings
  • Speech and language therapy
  • Physical and occupational therapy
  • Individualized academic consultation and direct support

Each student who qualifies for services will have an Individualized Education Plan (IEP). This plan is developed by a team that includes families, teachers, and support staff. The IEP outlines the student’s learning goals and support needs.

How to Request Services

If you believe your student may qualify for special education services, please contact the school office to request a screening. Our staff will guide you through the evaluation process and the next steps.

Support for Families

We understand that navigating special education can be complex. Our team is here to help by explaining your options, answering questions, and providing learning support to ensure the best outcomes for your child.

If you have questions about services, eligibility, or your student’s IEP, please contact a member of our Special Education Department.

Your Rights

St. Stephens Indian School complies with all federal regulations, including Title VI, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, and the Americans with Disabilities Act. We do not discriminate based on disability or other protected characteristics.

Please contact the building principal if you need accommodations to attend a school event or program.

If you are concerned about special education services or accommodation, you may submit a written complaint to the Superintendent. All complaints will be reviewed and responded to within 10 working days.
